Did you know that over 30% of American's are obese with over 20% of children in America having a weight problem.  It is "growing" problem, pun intended.  Diets don't seem to be the answer.  If they were, then we would all be able to loss weight.  So how come some people on 600 calorie diets can't loos weight?

The most important factor in weight control is good nutrition. Everyone talks about calories and there are diets all over the place that talk about eat this, don't eat that, but let's look at the body. The body is a highly complex, well designed machine. It has needs and requirements to run at it's peek efficiency. Think about your car. It doesn't matter if you drive a Ford Escort or some high performance sports car, they are both highly complex, well designed machines. There are a lot of parts that work together to maintain peek efficiency. If even one of these is not maintained the car does not run at it's best (though it will probably still run). A dirty air filter, unchanged oil, a loose belt or a bad spark plug will all affect the car's performance.

The body also has needs, nutritional needs. And let's be honest, the American diet is not typically the healthiest diet there is. I have found that this is the key to starting any program to loose weight. Giving the body what it needs allows it to perform at peek efficiency. The down side of not getting the needed nutrition is the body starts to go into starvation mode. In this mode the metabolism drops and any food that is eaten is not burned like it should be but stored in the body as fat.

If you think of good health and wellness like a pyramid, the foundation of the pyramid would be balanced nutrition. Everything else is built on top of that.
